I haven’t commented on the lawn in a while. After the hottest part of the summer was over, I decided to use the bag of seed I got at my housewarming party to overseed areas that were still patchy or mostly weeds. Even though the expiration date had passed months ago (a year ago?), at least some of them still seemed to be viable, along with maybe some from the original seeding application. The lawn has now filled in pretty well, with just a few small bare patches. There are still lots of weeds, of course, but now they have to compete with the grass, so they are declining, if slowly.

Well, despite my initial frustrations and complaints, and a disheartening Summer of Weeds, in the fall the grass finally shifted into gear. Even in the middle of winter, I’ve had a nice green lawn.
