Trimming the Top to Final Length

After the legs were trimmed to length, it was time to trim the top to final length.  So I set up the circular saw guide and made a couple passes, one fairly shallow and one as deep as it would go.

Then I had to turn the whole workbench top over.  Ugh.

I lined up the guide rail as best I could and made a shallow pass.  Hm, not quite lined up.  I made subtle adjustments and tried again.  Still not quite right.  Finally I decided I had it right and made the deeper pass.

Still wasn’t lined up.  More work with the block plane I guess.

I trimmed the other end, which meant flipping the top over yet again.  (Actually, these cutting and flipping photos are all from the second round, but you get the idea.)
